Transforming Fear to Joy

Over the past 10 weeks, I facilitated a meditation, writing and sharing program that hosted individuals keen on discovering and deepening their awareness and transformation practices.  Each session provided the opportunity to:

a)  reflect on one’s present moment experience through a variety of meditation techniques

b)  write, with the aid of inspirational imagery, so as to better know oneself

c)  share this new knowledge within this small group experience.

I continue to be deeply moved by the personal growth and creative outpourings that emerge when we quiet our mind, open our heart and pen our experience.  As one of the meditator-writers so aptly stated,  “I reached insights unavailable to me previously.  There is something magical about the meditation and writing process that sorts through and dissolves blocks to awareness.”   I share her sentiment, and my poem below is an outcome of this very process.

A Writer’s Voice

Written words like raindrops
Fall on the page,
Spreading their juicy wisdom line-by-line.

Words that fill pages.
Words that render me shapeless.

Until suddenly, I arrive at a bridge
Between yesterday’s experience
And tomorrow’s unknown.

Words have cajoled me here.
Formless but faithful I followed.

There, across the divide,
I dream to be
With only my beliefs to sustain me.

Words, don’t fail me now, form me.
Shape me into the dream.
Shift me into the dance.
