Transforming Fear to Joy

Today, I am content to make playful choices rather than strive to achieve the several goals I set for myself on a regular basis.  Yesterday, my contentment with the process of relaxing, releasing, receiving and then acting was less apparent and may be absent again by tomorrow.  Like a ping-pong ball, I find myself bouncing back and forth between being content to receive and striving willfully to create.  The feminine (receptive) and masculine (active) aspects of my personality have not always collaborated and at times one is challenged toward dominating the other.

Nonetheless, I keep practicing this fine balancing act between work and play, acting and receiving, war and peace, striving and thriving that is so necessary for both the health of the planet as well as the persona.  What I know to be true is a healthy inner life creates a healthy outer world—which is everyone’s life purpose.  Remembering to choose joy every day is a certain solution.

Really Cool Waterslides

Money, success, fame, fortune, glory—
when did they become important?
I can’t remember the exact day,
but somewhere I forgot how to play.

Inner wounds and wrestling matches
gave rise to seeking rather than being.
Suppressing won over expressing
and withered the wonder child away.

Battling back against convention and depression
surfaced a passion for peace, love and joy.
Achieving gave way to conscious living and
the unblemished delight of really cool waterslides.

What playful choice can you make today to give freedom and expression to your own wonder child?  How can you play every day?
