Transforming Fear to Joy

Another year passed, another birthday celebrated, and another opportunity to reflect with gratitude on what has come and gone in my life.  I start by counting my blessings, which far exceed the candles on my cake — a treasured community of dear friends and family, health and well-being, so many opportunities to discover, create and contribute in the world.

My impassioned Scorpio nature that loves transformation and renewal is in flight.  The intensity I carry within has the potential to both ignite and destroy so I am also grateful for the tempering effects of compassion.  Learning to be compassionate with myself and others is instrumental in transforming fear into joy.

As with all breakthroughs in each new personal development, we must first breakdown and dissemble those relationships, experiences and behaviours that limit our potential.  Suffering is not caused by letting go of the old and ‘un-serving’, but rather by holding on.  The temporary nature of Life has me realizing that joy resides in opening to each moment as it is presented to me.  In doing so, I easily see the connection between my intentions and Life’s responses.  This magical collaboration and its resulting co-creation is what give my life purpose.

First, there is chaos, a breakdown.
The dark night of the soul is thick and dense.
Dread and danger unravel their suffering.

Meditation’s soft sound of silence
dawns an explosion, a breakthrough.
The wall of fear and forgotten is shattered.

Finally, there is conscious connection,
a calm certainty.
Dissembled pieces reform,
birthing a new contentment,
a new curiosity, a new me.

What suffering are you willing to relinquish today?  What intention will you set for yourself so as to put Life ‘on notice’ that you are ready for something new to enter?
