When our body experiences physical, mental, or emotional stress, it releases hormones that produce cortisone and adrenaline in the bloodstream. Once circumstances return to ‘normal’, the body naturally eliminates or clears these hormones via urine, etc. However, if the stress does not abate and we continue to react, this constant low-level stress creates a toxic situation in the body.
Physical activity is the most effective way to remove excess cortisol from the body. Asanas physically move the body while simultaneously interfacing with the nervous system. Thus, this mind-body practice additionally promotes overall healing. We enlighten our bodies and minds by reducing inflammation and transforming samskaras — our negative thoughts, words, and deeds.
Enhance your physical, energetic, and mental-emotional resilience by engaging the three yoga actions listed below in Half Handstand.
