Transforming Fear to Joy

Life’s Lessons – the Gifts that Keep on Giving

I suspect we share this truism.  Trusting one’s convictions is always tested by Life’s emerging experiences.  In other words, whatever we are challenged with learning, Life will continually provide us with relevant opportunities in which we can choose to either repeat our old limiting patterns or learn new, better serving ones.  Once the current lesson is learned, a new one will replace it.

As I continue to grapple with releasing my will (desire and ambition),  I am reminded—by the following poem—that the process remains the same.  Only the content changes with each new lesson.

Divided Mind

My divided mind plays catch.

Unconscious thoughts hurl themselves out
hoping to pass into the world of words.
Conscious steward dives and stretches
to field all denial and fault finding.

Yet not free of its shackles,
divided mind yearns to demonstrate mastery.
A wrestling match continues
until choice vanquishes doubt.

Single-minded heart chooses love
and a silent victory registers within.
Tenacious fear withdraws to the sidelines.
Tho’ defeated for today, readying
a new battleground for tomorrow.

Vision first, then action
Inspiration paints the possibility
Universe provides the opportunity
Heart chooses the way.
