Spiritually, a rainbow (ROYGBIV) symbolizes hope, renewal, and divine connection. Emerging after a storm, it represents the light and peace that follow life’s difficulties. It is a reminder to us that storms/challenges are temporary, and better days lie ahead.
It is no mystery why the LGBTQ+ community adopted the rainbow in 1978 as its logo representing diversity, hope, and visibility. The rainbow in Judeo-Christian roots represents a divine covenant and a promise of protection, peace, and mercy. Across other belief systems, it serves as a bridge between the earthly world and the divine and as an indicator of spiritual transformation and alignment.
Spiritually, the splitting of white light into seven distinct colors represents the journey of the soul and the balancing of the body’s energy centers or chakras —
Red: Root chakra, grounding, survival instinct, and passion.
Orange: Sacral chakra, creativity, joy, and emotional flow.
Yellow: Solar plexus, personal power, intellect, and optimism.
Green: Heart chakra, healing, unconditional love, and abundance.
Blue: Throat chakra, truth, clear communication, and spiritual calm.
Indigo: Third-eye chakra, intuition, wisdom, and spiritual awakening.
Violet: Crown chakra, divine connection, enlightenment, and higher consciousness.
Thus, the beautiful rainbow we see reflected in our outer world is also present as a wellspring of energy within the inner world of our body. The dormant power, sustenance, and wisdom stored within each of us, when actively chosen or energized, bring great joy and great responsibility. The discernment needed to discover and direct this innate power makes us all rainbow warriors. May you use your great powers to expand peace, love, and joy within and with all that is.
Warriors of the Rainbow
How is it that each shelters a rainbow within?
Hearing these words in our hearts, as truth,
still finds heads lost to wondering.
Be still, rainbow warriors, in your search
for the holy grail. Soon enough, comes the
descension down a rabbit hole of mystery.
Rest attention, not out there, but in here,
and unveil the awaiting discoveries nestled
deep in the warren of your heart.
Thus, signals a new cycle of adventure
wherein trusted insight brings meaning,
in time, to be followed by certainty. Oh joy.
