Yoga Actions 200-Hour Teacher Training Program

Course Outline:

Weekend Workshops:  customized to each studio’s schedule (i.e., Fri (7 to 9pm), Sat (1 to 5pm), Sun (1 to 5pm)

Each workshop integrates student practice and teaching techniques for the following yoga poses—standing, inversions, balancing, backbends, forward bends, seated and twists.

Year 1:  10 hr. Workshops Dates Teacher(s)

  1.  Awareness Actions for Feet & Ankles
  2.  Awareness Actions for Legs & Knees 
  3.  Awareness Actions for Pelvis & Psoas  
  4.  Restorative & Pregnancy 

Year 2:  

  1. Awareness Actions for Torso & Spine
  2. Propping, Adjusting & Touching
  3. Awareness Actions for Shoulders & Arms
  4. Practicum & Student-Teacher Relationship

Afternoon Workshops:  i.e.,Sun (1 to 5pm)

Year 1:  

  1.  Mindful Meditation        
  2.  Sequencing & Lesson Planning
  3.  Chakras
  4.  Practice Teaching

Year 2:  

  1.  Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana & Samadhi
  2.  History of Yoga
  3.  Body Systems     
  4.  Building Your Own 8-limb Practice

Yoga Philosophy Class:  10 monthly sessions (i.e., 6 to 7pm Tuesdays)

Year 1:  Yamas & Nyamas (Journaling) Year 2:  9 Obstacles (Journaling)

Year 1 + 2 Program Requirements: in Hours

4 weekend workshops (10 hours each) 40 + 40

  • Awareness Journaling  4 + 4

4 afternoon workshops (4 hours each) 16 + 16

  • Awareness Journaling  4 + 4

Monthly Yoga Philosophy class 10 + 10

  • Reading & Journaling    

Beginner Class Observations (at studio) 15 + 15

One-on-one Meeting with Teacher  1 + 1

10-week Class Plan  9 + 9

  • includes written feedback    

Practice Teaching (i.e., Karma class)  1 + 1

Home & Studio practice (5 times/week)

  • weekly minimum 2 x 1 hr; 3 x ½ hr

TOTAL HOURS 100 + 100 = 200 hours
