Transforming Fear to Joy

Last night, my yoga practice of heart-opening twists wrung some very heavy energy out of my being.  I could not connect to the reason why I felt such heaviness in my body, but I did recognize how important it was to release it.  In the past, I would have run from these feelings rather than express them through yoga or writing.

Today, I feel on top of the world.  A lightness of being has replaced the leaden weight that surrounded my heart.  These emotions—no matter whether heavy or light—are but signs of living life fully.  To ignore them is to miss out on the sweetness of the gift always carried in each moment’s experience.  Inside the heavy dark cloud, Life’s silver lining is awaiting our discovery.

Signs of Life

“Sign, sign, everywhere a sign . . .”
In this case, the signs mirror my path.

The first appears as a crossroads,
a place of choosing direction,
left, right, forward, but not backward.
Never backward.

The second sign stops me in my tracks.
What is it I need to let go of?
Stop doing, having, being?

A third signals the construction of a new way,
to build what is required with an end insight.

And the fourth reminds me to watch
for what is emerging,
for what reflects the soon-to-be-known.

What signs in your life are you ignoring?  What do you have to lose if you pay attention to them?  What gift will you gain by heeding them?
